NVME SSD Upgrades Sussex
Benefits
The NVME drives offer read speeds of up to 3,500MBps, making them incredibly quick compared to SATA SSDs and traditional mechanical hard drives. These drives are excellent when dealing with huge files such as large video projects due to their phenomenal speed!
How much does this cost?
We can supply and install an SSD for the following prices including a free service which includes cleaning out the fan(s) + heatsink(s) out of dust, helping your machine to run cooler and quieter:
NVME SSD Size | Price |
---|---|
120GB | £155 |
250GB | £185 |
500GB | £249 |
1TB | £389 |
2TB | £529 |
MacOS Reinstallation (MacBooks)
As these SSDs are blank, we charge £59 to reinstall the latest operating system which your device can take.
MacBook Pro (Late 2013 - Present) MacOS 11.0 Big Sur
MacBook Air (2013 - Present) MacOS 11.0 Big Sur
MacOS Reinstallation (iMacs)
The operating systems which can be installed onto the iMac once the SSD has are as follows:
iMac (Late 2013) MacOS 10.15 Catalina
iMac (2014 - Present) MacOS 11.0 Big Sur
Once installed, we run the necessary TRIM commands to make the SSD run more efficiently. As well as this, we will test the sensors to ensure the SSD is operating correctly.
Backups
We can also perform a backup of your data and restore that back to the new SSD for an additional £10.
We can run a Time Machine backup which backs up all your data, applications and settings. If we are unable to run a Time Machine backup due to OS corruptions then we will manually backup your data. This will back up just your data (music, documents, pictures, videos etc) any applications will need to be reinstalled and any accounts such as email will require you to sign back in again.
Examples
To perform a backup and 500GB NVME SSD upgrade on a late 2013 iMac would cost £358 total (£249 for the 500GB SSD, £59 for the reinstallation of macOS 10.15 Catalina, £40 for the iMac seal kit and £10 for the backup.
To perform a backup and 500GB NVME SSD upgrade on a 2014 MacBook Air would cost £318 total (£249 for the 500GB SSD, £59 for the reinstallation of macOS 11.0 Big Sur and £10 for the backup.
MacBooks
If you have a MacBook Pro Retina or a MacBook Air (2013 - Onwards) then your machine will already have an Apple SSD fitted. We can upgrade these with high quality NVME SSDs to vastly upgrade your storage space! Most of the MacBooks with SSDs are usually fitted with either a 128GB SSD or 256GB, with larger storage options being a very expensive optional extra!
For those using their devices for creative tasks such as photography, video editing or music production, this space is simply not enough anymore! This is due to the increasing quality in media, resulting in higher file sizes!
iMacs
If you have one of the slim iMacs which are from Late 2013 onwards, we can potentially upgrade these with an NVME SSD! Many of these iMacs are still fitted with and running off the ridiculously slow mechanical hard drives!
For iMacs that are 2015 and later we can only upgrade the NVME SSD on these if the iMac was ordered with a fusion drive. This is because Apple have removed the socket on these iMacs unless they were ordered with a fusion drive! If your iMac is 2015 and was not ordered with a fusion drive, this can be upgraded with a SATA SSD instead!
We have managed to source brand new NVMe Sockets for the 2017 iMac Logic Boards and will be able to add this along with all of the other missing components if necessary.
These iMacs require a resealing kit since the screen is sealed to the frame via adhesive strips. To supply and apply the new seal kit is £40.
This upgrade presents the opportunity to have 2 hard drives in your iMac as we can fit the NVME SSD which slots into the back of the logic board and leave the mechanical hard drive fitted too. This allows for your applications and operating system to run off of the quick SSD whilst your data can be stored on the mechanical hard drive.
