MacBook and iMac SATA Solid State Drive Upgrades Sussex

Solid State Drives on MacBooks

MacBooks before Late 2012, most iMacs and windows laptops have a mechanical hard disk which is great for storage but have been left behind in terms of speed transfer. Operating Systems have got bigger, documents and photo files have got bigger and so the lack of speed on these components is more evident than ever.

Our Best upgrade for 2008 - 2012 MacBooks, iMacs and windows laptops is to remove the Spinning (Platter) hard disk and replace it with a Brand New Solid State Drive (SSD) with the following benefits:

  • 15x faster
  • Offers shock resistance.
  • Silent Operation
  • Runs Cooler
  • Usually gives an extra hour on our battery as there is no motor spinning.
  • Much more reliable.

How much does this cost?

We can supply and install an SSD for the following prices including a free service:

SSD Size Price
120GB £105
240GB £135
480GB £199
1TB £339
2TB SSD £479

Apple Computers

Obviously the new SSDs are blank and so we will need to give your MacBook a fresh reinstall with the latest updates for £59 with the latest Mac OS That it will Accept:

iMac Stripped

Pre Mid 2009 - Mac OS El Capitan 10.10

Late 2009 - Mid 2012 - Mac OS High Sierra 10.13

Mid 2012 - 2019 - Mac OS Mojave 10.14

We have 3 options for data transfer with Apple computers:

  1. Leave the MacBook or iMac as new. Fit the old hard disk into a USB enclosure and allow the customer to plug the old hard disk in an access any old files required.
  2. Perform a complete Time Machine backup of the old hard disk (Usually takes 3 - 7 ours). We then migrate the Time Machine backup onto the new SSD. Everything stays the same including Apps, Emails and Settings, Photo Library, even the Wireless will connect as before. £10
  3. Leave the MacBook as new but only transfer important Photos or Documents. This is the most efficient method as we are not dragging years worth of useless keys across onto a new SSD from applications not used for years. £10

While the MacBook or iMac is in for its SSD Upgrade we will remove the fans, strip them down and clean them out as well as the heatsink. We will also remove dust from the internal casing for free.

An SSD is definitely the best upgrade for an older MacBook or iMac and we have hundreds of satisfied customers who have given there machine a new lease of life at the fraction of the cost of buying a new model.

For example a 250GB SSD fitted and installed the total cost would be £194.00 including free collection and drop off.

Some Slimline iMacs without the DVD slot such as the A1418 and A1419 (After 2012) as sealed units and so require a Reseal kit at the extra cost of £40
